I feed my baby corns a pinkie every five days. Once they move up to the next size mouse I feed every seven days. Never had any problems with my feeding regime for my snakes, they're all fit and healthy. |

Not necessarily just that every 7 days is more of a maintenance diet pet shops use to keep them small, i would reccomend feeding every 5 days until your corn reaches 15 grams and then 2 pinkys every 5-7 days |

Emma, just a quick word and please don't think I am poking my nose in (or Conor) but don't panic if they won't take straight away at 5 days. My Cathy was fed a maintenance diet of every 7 days until I got her and NO WAY would she budge, and she is now on double pinkies every 7 days and is growing well. I have tried and tried again to get her down to 5 but she is having none of it.
I hope both yours feed at 5 day intervals to get that excellent start, and I am sure that they will, but you aren't doing anything wrong if your snakes won't. If they have been fed every 7 days and you want to get it down, try every 6 for a few feeds for them to get used to it first, and then take it down to every 5. Trust me, the little corn in my sig has had me tearing my hair out

Thanks for the advice Foxtrot
Unfortunately I didn't see your post until after I fed her but she did take the pinky and gobbled it down quick as a flash so maybe she will be okay.
And don't worry you're definitely not poking your nose in, I need all the help I can get as I am a novice |

Sounds like you're doing really well Emma. All snakes are different and it's good to know that yours, who remains nameless , was happy to eat earlier than planned. It's always worth offering. If she had refused then you could have just offered again in 5 days and known she would be hungry by then, and missing that feed wouldn't have done her any harm.
As for getting all the help you can we all need that at some point, no matter how long we've had snakes....even the experts although they don't like to admit it . And we all had to start somewhere .

I feed my littluns every 4-6 days, averaging out at every 5 (just because of my busy schedule, I would feed every 5 if I could.) |

That's what we're here for Emma. We all had our first snake and went along the same steep learning curve as you. Please ask all the questions you need to. It really is best to ask no matter how 'silly' you might think a question is. There really is no such thing as a silly question......just a silly person who didn't ask!! |

I'm in total agreement with Herriotfan, Emma . No thanks is needed because its what we're here for and we've all been where you are now....so keep asking your questions.
The Munson plan is a good guide Yalovit, but quite often you will find that your snake doesn't 'fit' it....Silvi should be on large mice according to it but would struggle with a medium because she's so slender. It does help in giving you a rough idea what to do, as long as you use it with common sense and a knowledge of your snake .
