It's brilliant to see Mellow so 'happy' and at home....and obviously settled enough to eat .

Thanks Judith today was better than yesterday
he was at the frunt of the Viv so i gently stroked hi's back before
picking him up with 2 hands and let him settel on me for some time
before putting him in to box
( i also changed the box as yesterday i tryed puting him in the pet carrey i got him in
i think he has bad memorys of being in there so i have made holes in the top off a large plactic box
and that made a differance :-) )
when i put him back in the viv with the new hides and plants ( plastic ones ) he started exploring every nook and crack
so it was time to feed him i did intend to feed him in the box but forgot so wonse the mouse was defrosted and wormed
he was in his hide like in the Pic so i used some tongs to show him the mouse he didt strike at it
he just followed it until i put it on the top of the hide and and he cerculed it before taking it
today has done a lot for my confidence with him as i have said i have handeled snakes before
but when i first got Mellow he was very scard and did strick at me so i was carfull with him
but now hes setteled hes a different Snake

You've done great with him Nikki....and with yourself, overcoming that fear after he struck at you . You should feel really pleased with yourself.

His viv looks great and I'm glad he was easy to put into the box this time. Changing it probably helped and you handling him a bit before definitely will have. Don't worry about forgetting to feed him in the box....with him having just gone back into a changed viv it was probably better to feed him in it, rather than disturb him more. You can easily do it next feed. Don't worry about him not striking. It may have been because he was unsettled with the changes or he may just not have been in the mood. Hopefully it'll happen at some point....and it'll make you jump .

Iam sure he will make me jump lol
I just need to get somthing for him to climb in his viv :-)
Iam very happy with the way hes setteling down
with the new large hids and plants hes not looking for the exit so much and showing signs of exploring
so the main thing now is gain more trust and thats going to take time :-)

Quite a lot of people have a Trixie table in their snake's viv, which seems to work well....or you can get 'branches' that would normally go in parrot cages, or find a nicely shaped one 'lying around' , treat it and put that in. All of mine love their 'trees', especially Kellog.

Your attitude is perfect about taking time to gain Mellow's trust ....and it's so good to hear .
