Just close the viv door once you have the water bowl out, fill it up and then put it back. Don't be afraid of him, he will not hurt you. If he tries to get out whilst you are getting the bowl out just block the exit with your hand, he will probably retreat and then you can get it out. |

Let him settle, give us details of his entire set up, temps too, and we will make sure everything is okay. Then have a look at this for when he has settled

I definitely agree with Donnie, Maryum. Remember that Hiss is more scared of you than you are of him, although it may not feel like that to you. When you need to change his water just make sure that you do it slowly and calmly, not making any loud noises or sudden movements. Take out the water bowl, shut the viv door, fill it up and replace it. If you can, while you have your hand in the viv, fiddle with the substrate if he's on that and stroke the hide he's not in, so that he gets used to your smell....but don't do anything near him. He needs to learn that you aren't a threat.
It takes time, for you to get confident and for him to trust you....but it is worth it, I promise you .

There is a big difference..
I'm not trying to be dismissive of Maryum's concerns but there is a huge difference between "I'm being attacked" and "I have to reassure Hiss that he is safe and that I'm not a threat"
