Hey guys, just weighed and measured Tess and was wondering if anyone else has a similar sized snake to compare to. She's 4ft6, 3-4years old and weighs 964g. Starting to gain weight but she's not round and doesn't have "hips" yet. I'm going to put her on a diet all the same.
Wierd thing is that she was on a large mouse every fortnight over winter when she was very inactive and stayed pretty constant weight wise, however since spring has (supposedly) come upon us, shes been really active. Despite the same diet she is now gaining weight. Seems odd to me?
I have noticed her craps aren't so big any more. Any ideas or similar? |

Just measured my two, the female is almost 4ft on the dot. When I weighed her last week she was 600g, which I thought was okay but other people tell me she looks a bit chunky, so I'm aiming to get her to about 500g. The male is 4ft 8, he was a little over a kilo, and he is massively overweight. I'm aiming to get him to 7-800g, then I'll see what he looks like. |

Thanks, how much are you feeding the larger snake? Tess is on one mouse a fortnight but I'll try every 3 weeks. She is exercised everyday and is very active in the tank. She's quite strong too compared to my last snake |

He was being fed a medium mouse every 10 days or so, however, I'm going to feed him one every 3 weeks and see how he goes. I've only had them 2 weeks now so I'm just winging it, and hoping for the best XD |

I have a male who is approx 5' and weighs just over 800g, although he is losing weight at the moment because all he's thinking about is females and not food ! I do keep an eye on his weight and although he is no-where near fat I don't like it if he gets too close to 850g, which he has before. I tend to mix up his feeding, either a large mouse every fortnight or a medium every 10 days.
If you are concerned that your snake is over-weight, or even if you're not but want to be aware of what to look for, this is a good thread Is your snake a fatty? It gives a lot of tips on diet, exercise, etc. Hope it helps.

Yeah cheers, I've been reason that article which confused me as Tess isn't bulgy and doesn't have hips. You can see her spine pretty clearly too. Still, cheers guys, il drop her back to 1 large every 3-4weeks as I have 4 left in the freezer to use up and lots of exercise! |
