HUGE congratulations on getting the job Luke - am thrilled for you

Seems like Cyrus is going to be getting a friend sooner than he thought! Have you got any idea what you would like to get this time, or are you just wanting a happy little snake? I know Cyrus is a normal, but he has gorgeous colourations.

With Cathy being how she is, my husband just wants to see me get her up and happy at her pace then Heathcliff can make his entrance!

Just an idea if you get another male - you are going to have to call him Eminem (I am listening to him at the moment totally sure it is not appropriate for a 39 year old as I am singing along in time!)

Your only as old as you feel Fi :) and the other half has already said she gets to pick the colour of our next snake as i chose cyrus because of how bright his top half is, my other half used to hate snakes but she loves them now she wants a coral or something along those lines :)

She has indeed i dont mind what sex it is because i have no itention of breeding for years to come (doubt id ever breed cyrus as he is my main man :p) i might buy her one as a supprise, i made my own little rack that can hold 3 fauns anyway so who knows might have to buy 2 :p

I remember when i first joined this forum and someone told me that corns are addictive how right they was and now i feel confident im looking after cyrus properly and giving him the attention he loves, and wants why not get another :p

Fi, you would be surprised at how many people ask for advice and then go on to ignore it - probably not from this site
I have been asked for so much advice from horse people who then go on and do just what they were doing anyway and wonder why things go wrong.
Most of my animals are rescues too and all the furries are snipped and chipped.
Great news that Cathy's feed is heading in the right direction
I'm looking forward to progression pics of Cathy and one after she has shed - always nice to see the subtle colour changes

That has twisted my brain slightly - why on earth would somebody get a pet (and as you said, a horse for heaven's sake - you certainly don't go into horse ownership with your eyes shut or on a tight budget), and ignore advice? I had a horse when I was younger and lived in Malta and they really need exceptional husbandry as well as regular vets checks.

All our pets (apart from the fish!) have yearly checks at the vets. It would be ridiculous not to.

I had read up so much about corn snakes before I got Cathy, I was sure I was ready for it, but I most certainly wasn't. Well, I was, but I needed help and advice and it has been given with such generosity here it is unbelievable. She has made fantastic progress in the little time I have had her, it is such a pleasure to see.

I think I am probably going to have quite a lithe girl on my hands, but I am SO much more comfortable with that now, knowing that as long as feeding, drinking, pooing and shedding are going well, I am not to worry. Let's cross our fingers for her next poo not decorating the viv walls and flowers

As I mentioned, I think another feed and no doubt a shed will have her looking fantastic, and my way of thanking is by showing what everyone's collective knowledge has done for her.

I am so much more relaxed about things now - yep, she feeds in the viv. I have it sorted that she can't ingest substrate so I don't see it as a big deal (thank you kitchen paper under the coco hide!). Really can't wait to see her in double figures grams wise - that is what I am looking forwards to, but am going to take it at her pace. The Munson plan isn't for her, she follows the Cathy plan for sure!

5 regurges in her life is horrendous, and like I said, she has had more to eat with me than she had in (gets notes to make absolutely sure) 10 weeks before she came to me I think is a sound result.

SexyBear77 made a brilliant point in saying to take it at her pace and not try to "pack" it in her.

Again, advice that all the books in the world can't tell you. I am looking forwards to her growing up, but only because I want to see her nice and healthy. They are adorable when they are young, but for her, getting a few months under our belts with regular (at her rate) feeds will be fantastic

You are going to have to stick a Garland Green in there somewhere! And hopefully, Cyrus will learn to stay away from your cookies

Fi, if she has eaten more with you, than in previous place, you must be doing something right, much better than the previous place, so don't worry :-)

If your hubby has 4 fishtanks, I'd say that means you must be allowed the same amount of vivs ( at least ) ;-)

To be honest Razee, it is the fact she hasn't regurged on me that I am most pleased about. I have found out that she was kept at 24 degrees at all times before she came to me, no warm to cool to thermoregulate. I have NO idea if that is what caused the regurges, but a refusal I can now take in my stride.

Yeah, 4 vivs? Might not get that far! I think 2 will be the limit. For now, muhahahaha! In fairness, one snake at a time. I want Cathy sorted (I think we are on the right track, and thanks to all the advice, I have alternatives to try) she is getting there. Looking forwards to her first shed with me which I think might be quite soon given how much she has eaten.

I give her 60 hours after a feed just to be on the safe side before I handle her and she is getting a full viv clean out tomorrow.

I have actually started getting the bits and bobs needed for viv #2, but am in no way ready to get another corn just yet. Once I am satisfied that her ladyship's regurging days are behind her and she is on her feeding regime, then I will "branch out"

Just a short message, it is nearly 3am and I've had a bad few days. Have emailed you Fi, so hopefully we can connect .

So glad to hear that Cathy is keeping her meal down.

As for family and friends reactions to me having snakes....one of my daughter's friends won't eat anything she knows has been in my freezer after my husband jokingly told her that when we defrost the dead mice that are in there they come back to life !!! And she's a teenager, so should know better!

Xxx
