I have recently moved slink into her vivarium and before moving her I put a styrofoam background in (which has indent at the bottom and back for cables). I opened the viv to take her out for a bit and looked inside the normal hide but she wasn't there, I then checked each of the other hides and took everything out and still could not find her. I started moved the substrate around to see if she had hidden herself under that but still couldn't find her. I was on the verge of assuming that I must have left some way for her to get out but just noticed her red and orange colouring at the back left under one end of the background. She had managed to squeeze under the gap and up the back of the background which must have been squashing her to be in there. When I pulled the background up and she fell out (looking quite bemused) she was very cold. I have now taken the background out until I can block the indents but does anyone think that she could have actually been stuck as she was all curled up and like I said was very cold when I picked her up. Also has anyone else had their snakes do something like this or is it just me? Haha

Ha Ha, there have been several posts on here about those backgrounds - every time anyone mentions they are getting one I warn them the snake will hide behind it at some point! I doubt she was stuck - but she will almost certainly hide there again when you put it back ;)

The backgrounds do look nice, but give you no end of heart attack moments

Oh right I did think when I put it in that the gaps might cause a problem but almost did have a heart attack when I couldn't find her, I may decide against putting it back in that case, at least until she is hopefully too big to get under. Good to know its not just me then.
Ps. Sorry and thanks to who ever changed the topic name, I didn't really think about it before posting #128563;

I had a background with a little exo terra viv for my daughter's first snake. We had a shock when he went 'missing'and we couldn't find him, or any way he would have escaped...we did eventually find him behind the background, and it came out that night and never went back in again
