Right so I'm doing a double check to make sure that once I get the new heat mat I'll have everything for my snakes.
I'll only list the set up for 1 snake because they will both be in the same styled set ups just in different vivs now.
So, here goes.
1x 36"x18"x18" Vivarium.
1x Metal Door Lock and Key.
2x Hides - 1 warm, 1 cool.
1x Large Waterbowl.
Extra Small Woodchip bedding - I like because it looks natural and the snakes seem to like it too.
1x 20W 17"x11" heat mat.
1x Microclimate Ministat 100.
Branches to climb on.
1x LED Light Strip.
Sound good? |

| Yep.. I assume you already have digital thermometer?. Also do u need sliding glass locks for a reason? Rubber wedges are cheaper and easier. |

I have thermometers already, yes. I have a sneaky female corn... She get's her nose between the panes and pushes the rubber wedge out enough that she can slide the door open and I'd rather not find my male doing it one day too so I prefer the sliding glass locks to rubber wedges  |

| It really is Herriotfan! I was sat watching her and she stuck her nose between the panes of glass where the rubber wedge was and I thought "nah, she'll not get her head flat enough to push it through" sure enough... XD And then the rubber wedge was just about hanging in there and she started sliding the door just enough to squeeze through! She started climbing out after too. I went "Nope! I'm getting a better lock for this!" lol. It's also surprising just how smart they are. She knew exactly where to push her head and how much to flatten it out so she could push the wedge. And then she knew exactly how to use her nose to slide the door open! |

There's one more advantage to metal locks: I find that when I shut viv doors, sometimes the door you're sliding shut catches the other door, and pulls it open, only tiny bit - but enough for a snake to get out, if you don't notice it. When I slide the barrel of the lock onto the bar, all the way to the other glass, I know exactly, how far it normally goes, when both doors are shut properly - there are 4 more teeth showing on the bar between the two glass panes ( and 6 on the other viv ). So, if I went to lock the viv, and saw there are more than 4 metal "teeth " showing, I know one door's not closed properly.
Second advantage - the snakes really can't push the door open. |
