Hi,i think i may have said a couple of days ago that i would love a boa,now today i was offered a male boa about 9 years old from my local pet shop, its current owner has only had it 5 months, but when he got it it was living with another boa and they were just chucking the rats in the viv and this male wasn't getting fed properly and he was only about 1.8kg, he is now up to 2.3kg (he is abit of a funny eater, and there's a female close by)i wont be getting him for a week or so(waiting for viv) but i was wondering what the best way to feed him up is???? thanks for any advice.

Poor little fella!
As with anything, i'd say just go slow. If he's not exactly on deaths door, waiting the normal amoint of time between feeds will do him no harm. Start with smaller prey and work up from there maybe

His current owner is offering him a small/med rat every week at the moment but he is not taking it every week should i wait about two weeks between feeds?? I did go see him today he is deep in blue, but very placid and easy to hold,i would guess he is around 5.5ft-6ft.

You could just wait, as he would need time to settle in a new home anyway, not that i know anything about boas, but would guess they need time to settle

Don't know anything about boa's (except rainbows lol) I assume you are talking about a BCI? Just wanted to say poor thing, and it sounds like he's getting a lucky escape with you taking him on :)

yeah a BCI is the same as corns or most snakes to be honest need to leave him alone for a a week or so, and as he is as old as he is maybe try feeding on a 10 day rotation instead of 7 and just chucking the rats/food into the viv is a fairly common thing to do with boa as it may get difficult to feed your fully grown female in a RUB (thats one big rub) :)

and you will be very happy with your boa i am so glad i added a BCU to my collection of corns
