Went to feed Cornflake tonight and she started to eat her mouse and got most if the head in. Then all of a sudden she spat it back out and backed away. Why would she do this? Was feeding her a small adult mouse as usual (mouse 12g approx, Cornflake 118g at last weigh in).

Just incase there was something wrong with the mouse, we binned it and will try with a new one tomorrow. FYI we buy frozen and defrost them in a tub at room temperature for about 4 hours.

Can anyone help?

Could something have spooked her? AN Anery I used to have was halfway down a chick, when the dog ran past and he spat it all out again!

After you have defrosted the mouse try heating it up, Jake eats it alot faster if its warm.

Did you do anything to frighten her? If she does it again, try putting her in a room to herself for an hour or two. Also, the mouse may be too big, but if she eats that size normally there shouldn't be a problem. Although, if she does it again it may not be a bad idea to downgrade a mouse size.
