Hi there

As some of you may know my little pastel motley, Skye has been a problem feeder, finally ate saurday 27th oct, since then pood 8 times, and today whilst cleaning i noticed some blood... she wasnt very active, definately not her usual self.

Now she has perked up a lot but im still worried about the blood, someone on facebook said she could have slightly damaged her bowel because of pooing so much, I just want her to be ok...

Thoughts?

Scaly x

Hmmmm.
I would immediatly take my snakey to a vet but I tend to get overworried.
If she's doing ok then I would wait a day because your friend could be right about her damaging her bowel.
However if she actually BLED from her bowel/inside herself she probobly would of died already (I think)
are you sure she didnt bleed from her poo hole? (don't really know a appropiate english term for this so sorreh :P)
Maybe it was a little bit dirty with a scab or something and her pooing irritated it and made it bleed?
I really hope she will be ok :(

I'd say it might be vet's job, Scaly. It could be several things - parasites, salmonella, or some damage. With the not eating, then pooping too much + blood, I'd have her checked up, she might just need worming...

There has been no scab or anything, she did have a funny whiff to her the other day though, thought she'd just crawled through her poo but maybe its something to do with this.

She's 10x more active than she was an hour ago so I hope she was just sleepy

I read this thing about parasites causing inside bleeding.
I know you said shes better now but I would really take her to the vet.
I know it's expensive and it's probobly nothing but I would not risk it :0

Sorry, Scaly, didn't mean for it to come across so scarily. It's just I'm worried about Little T., he's on Mediums, eating fine, but not putting much weight on, only about 2g per week. His poos are normal, but he also produces a lot of liquid with the poo, and the liquid is really stinky, so am thinking about having him checked up, too. So I've been reading up...( and scaring myself , and now you ).

if you haven't done already i'd stick her on paper towel so you can monitor her and whip her to the vets for a checkup just for peace of mind. hope every thing is ok

Like Georgina said, you can just have a poo sample done, that shouldn't cost much, and the vet doesn't need to see the snake for that. There are various types of tests, the expensive one is for crypto, so just choose one for parasites only, and that shouldn't be mega expensive. The only trick is having a fresh poo ready to drop in to the vets, when you can actually go to the vets.
