Okay, more proof that browsing pictures of snakes is a bad thing. I've stumbled across black rat snakes and I think they're stunning!

Anybody own one or know if they are easy to get hold of/keep? I would guess their temps etc are similar to a corn but I know they can get bigger than that. |

they are just as easy as corns to keep, I have a pair and GP has a female i think. Ours are getting bred next season so hopefully get normal black rats, white sided and leucistic blacks :D |

Oooooh. I may be interested in one of yours next year then I love the normals and the leucistic, I think a white snake with blue eyes is lovely and you just can't get them in corns |

Yep, AC snakes - and have you seen the white sided black rat snake?
AAArg, just noticed gmac's post... shame you are so far, gmac, (I'm in Devon, so you're even further than AC snakes). Is it true that the black rats are more likely to bite than corns , and a bit bigger and livelier? |

I suppose the Grey Rat and Black Rat Snakes are near enough the same.As far as I'm concerned the Greys have more character than a Corn. Mine does anyway. I tamed Mirkey who was a demon from hell to a nice guy within a week. It cost me a few tags but they were no worse than from a similar sized Corn. Since becoming tame, he has never struck me or any kids that I've let handle him. |

Awww, Mirkey is a lovely looking snake too I have heard rat snakes can be a bit nippy when they're young too but that doesn't really bother me, I'm hoping to get a BRB too which I understand can often be the same when they're little.
I've seen the white sided black rats but I prefer the normal and the leucistic. Such lovely snakes. They has one at uni which was a fantastic snake. They said it was a Black rat snake I think but he had quite a yellow chin and I haven't seen any quite like him anywhere else. |
