Ive noticed Jake has not been very active the last few nights, he is always out every evening. So ive just gone to handle him and his belly is very pale and his eyes are blue shed time!

Jake allowed me to handle him and didnt strike but I put him straight back as I don't want to stress him.

Ive put an extra tub of water in the hot part of his viv to increase the humidity. Is there anything else I can do?

When do I expect him to shed? Can you tell i'm excited

Just let him get on with it. He might not be too active and stay in the hide. He'll be cloudy eyed for about 1 week then clear and look normal for another week or so. Don't worry, he will shed after this.

I wouldn't bother with the extra water dish. Most of the time they manage just fine. See how it goes this time. If it is a clean shed, that's fine. If there are any problems, a moist hide with sphagnum moss is the usual method for the next time. Have a look over the Shedding 'sticky' topic.

Hope you manage to see him shedding. It is always amazing to watch.

Amelia shed for the first time since I've had her today. A good effort; a little bit left on her tail but it soon came off with a quick dip in some water. she's really bright now! I didn't see it though :(

Just a quick update, Jake is still in blue but has fed ok

I am over the moon he's fed as not only is he in blue but it was his first time on a fluff I put the fluff in his viv but after an hour it was still there so I used a tip off here and moved the fluff to the entrance of his hide and within 5 minutes he poked his head out and dragged the fluff into his hide.

Fingers crossed for clean shed now

Bugger bugger bugger!!!!

Ive just missed jakes first shed by 5 minutes :(

I got him out for some some handling as its been 48 hours since his last feed and his eyes had cleared. I spent 10 minutes with him then put him back. I looked in his viv 5 minutes later and he had shed while I was a foot away from his viv! Little bugger!

On the plus side his shed was perfect, all came off in one go, tail and eye caps to so I am well happy.
