Hi meggi,

Join us weirdos! Haha, no seriously, we love having a Corn snake as it's different to having a dog or a cat as a pet.

We love showing him off (even tho we don't get chance to do much of that)!

I don't think you should or need to do anything! Just carry on loving him & he'll keep loving u back!!

Please don't regret it!!!!

Wish we'd have got 1 sooner!

xx

Don't worry about being a weirdo, as long as you love your pets just carry on.

Going by the posts on the forums I think there are more girls than boys keeping snakes.

Anyway, girls are weird whether they keep snakes or not!

No reason for a girl not to keep a snake as far as I know. I think it's cool! I wish I'd got mine much, much sooner. Be proud of your wonderful pet and please don't ever regret it. Snakes are an awesome addition to any home.

I'm a girl and have four! My mum has one too, and in fact most of the people I hear of owning most reptiles are female! Don't worry about what others say, as my mum says 'those who matter don't mind, those who mind don't matter'.

As long as any animal is looked after well, it doesn't matter who owns it :)
And as Auld Baulsy has pointed out quite nicely, we are a weird species anyway!

Dont worry what other people think:) owning a snake is very cool in my opinion, everyone has cats, dogs, hamsters, rabbits etc. I think its great that you have something a little different. Enjoy looking after your snake and anyone who thinks your wierd is not worth calling a friend.

My daughter is 14 in a couple of weeks and she's just got her 1st corn for her birthday. We don't think it's at all weird and if others do, she doesn't care, nothing wrong with being different. It only matters what your animals think of you

Hi Meggi, I bought my girl a snake for her recent 12th birthday, I've always loved them and we now have 4 lol, don't worry about others shallow opinions, don't be a sheep and follow the crowd, be yourself and original, it's always better in the end :) If you love your snake, just keep it...simples... if others cant accept who you are as a person, and that includes your choice of pets, then they aren't worth your attention

I'm a girl as well, and I love my snakes to bits. Some people might find call me weird for it (they say it as if it's a bad thing, lol) but I couldn't care less! I love my snakes to bits, and for every person out there calling me a weirdo there's 10 more who are as fascinated by them as I am :)

Don't worry about it Meggi, just enjoy your snake. If having snake is weird, then there's quite a lot of weird people out there. I'm a girl, too (though much older one ) and I wish I got to snake keeping earlier in life.
And it's true what Isoldael says, in the beginning people's first reactions are " why do you have a snake, yuk..." but more often than not, when they actually see them and touch them, they are fascinated.

I'm another girl (albeit a grown up one lol) with snakes! When I was a young teen I kept lizards and didn't care what anyone else thought. We bought Corno for our 8yr old son (only cos I wanted one anyway :p ) and he lost interest in her fairly soon... but our 4yr old daughter thinks she's great and tells all her friends/teachers at school about the snakes! Also there is a girl in my son's class with a corn as well.

If you think it's a mistake because you don't want the snake any more that's one thing, but you put 'i still love him to peices' so obviously that is not the case. People need to accept you for who you are - you aren't weird, you are interesting!!!

Aw Meggi, as others have said already if you still love him then it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks!

I'm a (much older, as in 33 yrs old) girl and I still get strange comments from people about our pets. The difference is that I don't mind people think of me as a weirdo LOL. I care more about being true to myself regardless of what people say.

Having an unusual pet just makes you more interesting than most. I have a 16yr old niece who has kept frogs for a few years now. She was teased at first, but now her friends ask to help her out with them. She got together with her boyfriend over a conversation about them too!

Don't let other peoples opinions change your own, you don't have to change who you are for anyone! ((hugs))

I am sorry to hear you feel this way, my eldest two snakes were bought for are 10 year old son, he lost interest and i took them over and we now have three.
I have two grandaughters who cant wait to see the snakes when they visit and want snakes of there own.
You say you feel like a wierdo as a girl with a snake , but you love the snake aswell.
I would think of how you would feel if you gave him up and could no longer share that love.
If others can`t except a girl with snakes then they are wierd for not excepting you for who you are.
Best of luck with your decision.
