Hey Meggi! I wish I was lucky enough to get snakes earlier in my life, I am now 32 and have just brought home my first babies!!
Are you feeling like this because of someone's reaction? Or do you think you 'Shouldn't' have a snake as a pet as 'normal' teenage girls don't keep them? (Note the quote marks btw)
Girls of your age are generally trying to find out who they are, what they like and where they fit in, in the world around them. A lot of the time young women, like you, feel like the simplest thing to do is to go along with what everyone else thinks they 'should' be doing because they are scared that people wont like them if they are 'different'.
Different is great, different is interesting, different is what makes you an individual and what makes you stand out amongst a crowd. It makes the world go around. How boring would the world be if everyone was the same?
I have purple hair, I have always wanted purple hair and was worried what people would think. But one day, I thought, I don't care what people think and now I have purple hair! I love it, its part of my personality but on the outside. Yep, people stare, yep teenagers make comments, but I have far more people come up to me and tell me how much they love it. Strangers have stopped me in the street and had discussions with me about it. It doesn't matter though, who likes it or who doesn't because I LOVE IT.
Do what you love, be who you want to be, it will make you a happier and better person in the long run. Believe in yourself, never do anything that you wouldn't want done to you, rejoice in your uniqueness because some people never ever find the courage! xx |
