Was just gonna say the same as scottishbluebird... Would following the usual procedures get rid of any nasties but just skipping the debarking? As in bleaching and baking??

I was up north this weekend and came back with a load of birch and maple bark.. My plan is to use the birch as a 'background'. That long chunk looks like it would be awesome as backdrop!!

I run everything through the oven.. heat kills..
