Hey everyone, ive decided that i think one of my hatchies really needs to go to sleep, never to wake up again. Hes really strugling now and it breaks my heart. I took him out earlier and he can barly move anymore, hes never eaten, hes never shed his skin and he hasnt even grow a mm. What im trying to ask is what is nicest way to put my wee man to sleep?

Personally if he's that bad I'd just leave him, sounds like it won't be too long

Well it may not be that long, but it will be extremely painful for the poor thing.

I'm sorry one of your snakes is so poorly :( It's really brave of you to want to end it's pain early. There won't be much of a delicate way of putting this, but the best way to put a snake to sleep is to completely destroy the brain. A heavy, blunt object to the head is the only way to make it quick and painless.
Don't put it in the fridge or freezer. Whereas mammals shut down and can't feel a thing, reptiles remain conscious at cold temperatures and will feel their bodies freezing. Don't try decapitation either, as their blood flow is so slow, the head remains alive for a time, and registers the pain.

Do you have someone who could help you if you're afraid to do it yourself?

Regardless of how fast the vet stuff works, it is still quicker and more humane than just waiting. Also less distressing for you.

Heavy, blunt object to the head. I had to do it myself this season, it's not pleasant, but it's fast and stress free for the snake.

Expect some movement afterwards.

I just cried looking at your pics of the little guy, you did the best thing for him though in this case, at least he's not suffering anymore
