Evening all
This is a story about a so called escape in my area, quite a discussion going on.
http://www.wiltshiretimes.co.uk/news/9832797.Six_foot_snake_at_large_in_Chippenham/?action=success
The snake didn't even leave the room!
I've posted under the name of Abzz707 by the way
Enjoy

Oh dear. The news must have been a bit lacking for them to have to write about that, especially as it didn't even leave the room! |

Most of the comments on that section really annoyed me... people with no knowledge of reptiles and reptile keeping making broad sweeping statements about how it's "cruel" to keep them so confined... this sort of ignorance is something I even have to put up with when I meet some friends of friends (all my friends obvs know how much I care for my reps :P) and I'm sick of it!
On a side note, I'm also sick of the stupid story I get told all the time about the snake not eating, then growing in order to eat the keeper... if the people who told me that even thought about it for 1 second they would realise its BS... afterall how much can the snake really grow when its not eating, correct me if im wrong but doesn't growing take energy and calories, which are usually gained from food (unless you are a plant)? And that's only the first ridiculousness of the story...
It seems that ignorance is remarkably prevalent in a society where you can get information about anything with the click of your smartphone or computer button... (anyone remember having to use Encarta for information rather than wikipedia or google?)
Right, rant is done now... |

I love how some wingnut is going on about how small the viv is but never is it stated what it's dimensions are...
quote: Phorever says... My hamster escaped from her cage, causing 50 pence worth of damage to a pencil (2B). Hamster was found 3 minutes later snoozing in a box of kleenex. Email me if you would like to run this story.
The best comment IMO.. I laughed till it hurt... |

Thorne - completely agree! The hamster post was the best, and most relevant, of the lot. |

I readt the comments on the news article made me laugh at how people are quick to put there 2 pence in but do not even have the basic knowlege of reptiles lol. I bet yu that she has some sort of pet in her house that is in a cage but was just to ashamed to admit it after the silly point she had made lol |
