posted in health but suppose it could have been put under general!

now in this heat, i put a fronzen plastic bottle or cool pack into the rabbit cage so he has a cool area if he's too warm.. He's an indoor giant and seems to appreciate it....

i've noticed the cool end on slash's viv is hitting about 25-26 in this temp, even with the window open all day and the blinds/curtains shut to keep out the sunlight... i need to bring the temp down so would it be safe to freeze a bottle of water and maybe put it in a sock or towel and put it in the cool end of the viv???

I think thats likely to do more harm than good exposing your corn to sub zero temps could induce all kindsa problems as long as your heat source is statted and u have a thermal gradient the snake should be able to make itself comfortable without too much bother im no expert but i think sticking a frozen or even cooled bottle in the viv could cause problems

yeah hence i wondered about putting it in a sock or something so it's not overly cold, maybe even a bottle of water from the fridge rather than frozen... there's a gradient but it's getting smaller in this temperature, it was only about 2 degree difference this evening with his warm end 28 and the cool end 26... just dont want him overheating, although he may not be bothered as he's not sitting in his water bowl but he is burrowing a lot more

I wouldnt worry too much most of mine seem to be sitting atop their hides or in their water bowls during the peak of the hear during the day so im just making sure i refresh the bowls with fresh cold water every morning and night cause it evaporates so quick in this heat anyway

I've turned the heating off for all mine as my flat is like an oven.

Definitely dont put anything cold in there with your snake.
