Hi guys have a male corn snake, 8yrs old and 5ft long. 7 weeks ago i got a new vivarium for him. since he has been in the new vivarium he hasnt eaten at all though have offered him food every week as usual. before this he was having 1 adult mouse every week, but now he has not been interested. i understand this could be due to stress??? i noticed shedding wasnt very easy for him in this vivarium and was not coming off in 1 as usual so when due for shedding again i put him back in his old vivarium. this time he still didnt shed as usual and it has been 5 days with his shed on 20% on his body. Tonight i decided to give him a bath to assist to soak his skin off and noticed he is swollen for about a foot around a third of the way down. Does anyone have any ideas to what this could be?? cant be constipation can it? as not eaten for 7 weeks |

i think i'd be inclined to get to a vet to have that looked at- have you got a rep specialist near you? |
and you thought there was no such thing as a stupid question....

1.2.0 corns: captain haddock, sharon the tiddler and Darling Debbie. plus 0.2.0 cali kings: spot and Numpty... not forgetting the delightful Miss Lovely-Gonzalez-La-Poop apricot pueblan milk snake, and we all miss the Lodger who thought he was a cobra....

If its deffinatly a male an deffinatly never been with another snake then yeah I'd get him to a vet, he looks quiet small from head to where the sweeling starts. |

Hi just an update on Khan, took him to vets today and they think there is something wrong with his liver or kidneys, did an x-ray but only showed solid mass, said he is defo not constipated. They operate in the morning so fingers crossed |

oh my, I am amazed your so calm, lol, I would be freaking. I am an animal health tech assistant, but we never really delt with snakes...did thier food! lol. I am amazed I know it sounds silly that they can perform sx on a snake and fix them, to me they seem like way more complex animals than a dog or cat which are so simmilar to us. I hope for the best for your scalebaby and my fingers are crossed for you!!! |
