One other thing that just occurred to me.. Vacations.

I went away for 10 days in June...

During that trip my cats needed to be fed 20 times and watered every other day. Their box needed to be cleaned out 3 or 4 times. I asked my roommate and he agreed without hesitation.

The 2x snakes on the other hand, I didn't feed for a week before I left so there would be no messes that needed cleaning, all they needed was fresh water once or twice while I was away. I had to bribe one of my friends with a bus pass to get her to come by.

Even though the cats were much more work it was far easier to find someone willing...

I'm thinking about getting another, possibly older (as in not hatchling) corn snake at some point. There are a few i have seen online (rescue place), one in particular i have my eye on!

But of course, i'll wait till Freddie has settled in, and is eating regularly etc.

Is there much difference between getting a hatchling and an older snake? (Apart from their size and the fact they will need a viv of course)

Share some pics, Freddiesmum! I'm still stuck on choosing my second. I'm going for a hatchling this time after getting a yearling last time.

I know you feel. Other than some initial handling when I first got her home, and then some sneaky holds towards the end of her week settling in, I haven't got to play with her much. If she's not feeding she's shedding, although I won't complain about those things in a new snake!
