So I have finally set up the vivarium for my darlings and have had it all running for several hours. I came back to check the temperatures and the warm side was brilliant - 28 degrees - but the cold side was still up at 26.5...
So I installed cool control and mini fan on the cold side - thought it could also help with the really high humidity (67%). It brought the humidity down to 50%, though the room is very humid as it is so we have opened some windows to ventilate the room and hopefully help cool it down. The temperature, however, is stuck at 25.9 and I'm aiming for between 23 and 25. Took a room measurement and the room is 27 degrees... so getting better I suppose.
Outside is a lot warmer and is very muggy, though we are having the windows open tonight to try and drop the temp further, and I've turned the stat on the heat lamp down for now to help cool down as it warms up nice and quickly.
So any suggestions for helping the temperature drop in the viv or am I doing all i can for now? |

the fan will just circulate the warm air around, creating a draught. how is your viv set up exactly, wheres your mat, how much floor does it cover, where ae you stat and mat probes, how big is your wat bowl in relation to the tank. |

Cool probe is near the front of the hide on the left (as you face it). Lamp probe is ground level under the lamp, though this is currently turned down to 24 degrees to prevent it heating while it cools down.
I have a heat mat with mat stat, but that's not on. I am in two minds and decided to fit it and then i can choose between the two at a later date (saves trying to fit it later), but that is off and the mat stat probe is directly on the mat - this is set to 27 if I put power to it and the mat covers exactly 1/3 of the floor space. But like I said, it's not on at the moment.
All windows open and the room temp is dropping. Viv is falling slowly - am at 25.2 now so will see how it goes |

The lamp isn't on though. I already stated that I turned the stats down so that the lamp doesn't come on

Okies... well - we're trying to bring the room temp down. maybe an air con unit would be useful.
The mini fan has helped the humidity loads though. Room humidity is 70% (thanks to this muggy weather) but the viv humidity is now 45%. At least it's helped for something |
