Is there anyone local to me, Suffolk, IP14 3NW, that has in prolapses in female corns that could maybe come and help Cindy. Cindy has laid one more egg 10 days after laying the infertile clutch. She shed friday was fed saturday first thing then at lunch time laid an egg and prolapsed. I get the feeling that there maybe an egg stuck and the prolaspe is oviduct with egg in it. The prolapse itself is about the size of a small walnut and does look egg shape and feels like the firmness of an egg. I can get her to a vet tomorrow but not a reptile specialist so guess they will put her to sleep as they tend not to do snakes and I can't drive so travelling is a real issue. Have had her in baths of sugar water and applied ky jelly and kept her on newpaper. She regurged the mouse last night, to be expected, but still looks bright in herself. I am gutted/devastated. She was not mated so it just makes it even worse really.

Thanks Georgina. I can see its defo an egg hanging out of her its in like an opaque sausage skin and just a small part of her inside is out right close to her body. I'm guessing if the egg is somehow removed then the small part of her will go back in. Its the egg thats stopping it. I've tride to see if I can see an opening and ease it back in but I can't see any thing. And I can't see the opening to ease it out either. I think the only way it is going to come out is through the sausge like skin.

Keep her hyrdated, when our chickens prolapsed they told us to use vasaline and see if we can work the egg out, but the are more robust than snakes, you may find the opening is still inside her and the egg needs to go back in to come out if that makes sense. Xx

Its the egg that makes it look bigger than it is. The whole egg is out with like a membrane round it. There is just small part of her right against the body one side of the egg that is protruding. I get the impression if the egg suddenly popped throught the membrane then everything else will go back in.

I can't help with the prolapse but if you are using a lubricant use KY Jelly instead of vaseline.
I'm sure it's because the vaseline is petroleum based and the KY is water soluble.

Good luck and I hope it gets sorted soon.

go on the facebook group. there will be more experienced people on there. There may be someone local who can help even if it's to help with transport to a rep specialist. Where are you red?

My sister has returned early from her weekend away so she is taking me to stowmarket vets to see a vet that has an interest in reptiles so fingers crossed. Cindy's appointment is at 1:20pm so fingers crossed he can help her.
