As said before 86 deg f is max temp you want it to be. Are you still using your dial thermometer?

82.4 deg f is 28 deg c which is the ideal temperature. Better for you to give details in Celsius as we won't have to keep converting your Fahrenheit figures :)

I dont have a heat mat but use a dimming ceramic lamp (no light) with stat.

The temperature gauge comes from under the lamp at 'snake height' which is 27.4.

I would assume if the snake was cold it would spend more time on that side? Most of its time is spent in the cool side or under the substrate. Or occasionally stretched right around the viv!

Does this sound OK?

Have you checked the temp at the cool side to make sure it is cooler? Just wondering if he is over there a lot or under the substrate he may be trying to cool down to no avail.

24.8 at the cool side, and she has a big water bowl that she could go in if she wanted I guess. No issues shedding or feeding.

This is her viv, the lamp is on the left...

Thanks,

She rarely goes in the wooden hut on the left even if I move it to the cool side, she then likes to move it and get behind it.

She likes to go in the right hide (rock) but usually when she is due to shed.

I got her from a friend that had her in a smaller exoterra and she was always under her rock. Since she has been moved in to this one she tends to stay out more. Also since moving her shedding has become more frequent. She didn't shed for 3 months in the Exoterra but now is about every 6 weeks.

She is the best part of 5ft so even when she is under her rock her tail is usually elsewhere!

Shedding is usually as a result of feeding (or occasionally early if scales are damaged/breeding etc) - sounds like you are feeding her more than the previous owner ;) Possibly she was underfed before? Just be careful you aren't overfeeding her as that sounds a little bit too often for a 5ft snake? :)

She was feeding weekly she said, but I had read here that 10-14 days was more suitable. I am not sure that she was as careful as I may be.

I have been feeding one adult mouse every 10 days. She also had a mat that was under the viv and didn't run a stat, though after I had looked at it the heat transfer through the glass wasn't that great.

I have been keeping all the records of feeding and shedding, I will count how many times in the last 5 months and update.....

Since December 23rd, no previous written records,

Mon 27 Feb
Tues 10 Apr
Wed 16 May
Thur 21 June
Wed 15 Aug

Not as many as I thought sorry! Glad I wrote it down....
