| i am new to this forum and i have seen posts before on this topic, but id just like to ask for some info in regards to my corn snake,i have to corn snakes they are housed together in the same tank and get on fine there roughly the same size 3 foot long maybe 3 and a half or something like that. i always feed them outside the tank so i fed my first guy outside it put him back in was feeding my second he ate 2 fuzzies but wouldn't eat the last one, it was a small one so i left the 2nd snake in the tub i had him in and went to give the last fuzzy to the guy in the tank thinking he would just swallow it without it tipping the beech wood chips, unfortunately he swallowed a wood chip with it maybe the size of the fuzzys head a bit smaller maybe, i tried get it off him but he just gulped it down, I'm real worried as i read he could die on here he seems fine today but I'm worried, is there anything i should do, the vets in my area don't deal with snakes, i don't want him to die he is my fave, can i assume if he does a poo everything will be ok or how will i know if he is going to die, any reply would be great he is bout 2 half years old he is long but thin, thank u |

| I'd be inclined to say he'll be fine. They're tough little critters, just make sure it's a once off! |

| thanks katie, i hope your right, usually there fed seperate outside the tank, i hope he is ok he is the outgoing inquisitive of the two,have u corns? |

| I'd just keep an eye on him, and make sure he toilets ok. At 2 1/2 yrs old and 3 ft long he really should be on bigger sized mice by now, and could well be the reason he's thin. A lot of people on here will suggest you separate them too, corn snakes are solitary creatures and are happier and safer living on their own. | the other one will eat small mice but he wont ive tried it countless times but he just wont eat bigger mice he will only eat the fuzzies,is there anything i could do to change that because believe me i have tried many times |

I'm new to snakes myself but have researched the subject a lot recently.
Might be an idea to seperate your snake that isn't eating mice and try leaving him with it for 24hrs, I've read leaving them with it can help shy eaters, and maybe with less stress he would attempt to eat the bigger meal, hopefully with success.
Again, I'm sure someone with more knowledge will probably correct me but if not it's worth a go. |

| You could try warming the mouse, or braining it (a small slit on the top of it's head)sometimes gets them interested. |

| thank u both for your replys, both snakes will eat fuzzys no problems and everytime. one time one ate a small mouse and ever since that,when i try again with small mouse they wont at all, the other guy never did and wont, so it seems like they dont want bigger ones, but fuzzys straight away they do, in regards to seperating them and leaving them with it tried but they still dont eat, and the warming and braining have tried many times but to no success, there both big enough so size isnt a problem they just like fuzzys, and the one that never ate the small mouse he is very fussy, one time the pet place had different type fuzzys in and he wouldnt eat them either |

| when they say seperate them, they mean permenantly as there solitary in the wild :) they might be getting too stressed together to eat properly. |

| i get that, but they eat fuzzys EVERYtime both of them both wont eat the small mice, i dont want to seperate them fully as the other tank i have is small when they wer babys i used it id have to get another bigger one |

| katie hi again, how do you know if there male or female i have 1 who is longer and his tail is long in comparison to the other who seems to have a not as long stumpy type tail, is one male and one female if so which is which? |

| If you're not even sure what sex they are you really need to separate them straight away. If the 'male' which is about 2 1/1 yrs old and thin were actually a female and to become gravid then she would be too young and thin to safely breed and could possibly die as a result. The only way to tell is to take them to a reptile shop which will probe them, or a vet. |

I had them popped as hatchlings and then probed a few months back. It's nearly impossible to tell by appearance alone. Housing opposite sexes together is somewhat of a no no! |

You've 2 unsexed snakes living together, I'll give you a clue as to what problems might be coming your way. Its breeding season.
Get them sexed ASAP if you plan on keeping them together but ideally they should not be kept together. |
