Out for a little cuddle and measure. Few pics to go with of course.
Duke getting measured, still 40 inches like in January but only just back to eating the proper sized rat after the fast, maybe get a few more inches out of him yet.
Decided to see if he would like a climb on the airer, turns out the answer was NO!!!
'STOP TAKING PICTURES AND GET! ME! DOWN!'
Then he was having a good roam on the sofa and well, you can make your own jokey caption.

Its not a daft question at all. No they aren't all nostrils though, they have 2 nostrils they sit up on top of the nose and back a bit in line with the eye and they are actually really tiny.
The line of 'holes' that go right round the nose are actually heat pits. Pythons can 'see' heat with these pits and because they are like tiny dishes help the snake identify the direction and even distance of a prey animal because one heat pit will pick up the heat signal more than all the other pits so the snake will know its in that direction and the snake will turn its head in that direction as there are larger pits at the front for homing in on the target. Al good amount of snakes have the ability to 'see' heat but heat pits just focus this ability.
It also means lots of Royal Pythons wont eat unless their food is hot.

He is in a 3 foot by 2 foot and that will do him for life. They prefer smaller spaces than you would imagine, I think Duke would be happy crammed into a match box, his viv has to be crammed with stuff just to keep him happy that there are no open spaces.
