I am running out of room in the lounge, I've already replaced the t.v unit with a viv lol. Can you keep or do any of you keep snakes in vivs in the kitchen? I know that birds should be kept out of a kitchen because of something to do with the non stick coating on baking tins but does this harm snakes?

I personally wouldn't, just because there is a small risk of salmonella from their faeces, wouldn't want to inadvertently give anyone food poisoning, now i probably would put one in the dining room though

The risk of salmonella from being in the kitchen is no greater than a snake being kept in the dining room, lounge or bedroom, in my opinion. After all salmonella can be present on a dog and a cat and both spend time in all rooms of my home. I'm more concerned on the well being of the snake really.

Unless you burn you food ... :P

I wouldn't but that's just me because kitchens are high traffic areas which people will gather, talk, smoke, drink ect in. Plus although other animals do carry salmonella and they eat in my kitchen, their on the floor, not amongst work tops where food gets placed. If it was just me in the house, fine I wouldn't mind but with other people and that risk I just don't like it.

A very special super, duper thanks for K :3

I do not burn food, not now anyway I'm one of the few people that allow that cats on the work tops and they have their tea on them as well and they can always share my tea with me as well, oh and the dog loves sharing an ice cream, have to hold on tight though or he takes the whole thing. Been brought up like it from as young as I can remember so not to bothered by it really. I keep myself to myself, apart from the kids and OH, its only close family that come round really and it would not bother them. My chips share a draw in the freezer with the mice and rats so.... I can hear you all gasping in horror now and saying I will never go to hers
