Im a new snake owner and had my adult corn (3years old) for 6 weeks. He refused 1st feed, took second, then went of his food. He then went blue and has now shed. (shed on th 6th) this is his 6th week without food. Hes very active and drinking plenty. Im scared that im doing something wrong. Previous owner said he never ate when in shed, but a shy eater, and he wouldnt take it of tongues and likes it left outside his hide, then he would take it. I followed these instuctions, ive also tried dangling it in fornt of him. Hes not interested in the slightest. Please help me im worried sick about him.. Thanks in advance for any help and advise.:)

I can imagine how worried you must be.
If you could answer a few questions that may help with any advice:

What is his set up like: temps, how big,how many hides etc?
Did he have the weeks settling in time before being fed/handled?
How big is he and what size mice are you trying to feed him on?

Its easier said than done,I know but 6 weeks without food will be bothering you a lot more than him.

hes in a 3 foot viv. the temp is at 79/80 warm side.Hes 3 years old and hes 5 foot (not sure on weight) we didnt handle him for 6 days in new set up on 7th day fed him. He has a hide on cold side and large peice of bark on warm side. Large water bowl, and aspen bedding. Im feeding him on large mice. His set up is pretty much identical to the one he was living in previous. Ive tried peircing the mouse, exposing the brain. dipping its head in warm water. i have a chick to try him on next week. But just been advised by somebody else to try a rat. Hes very very active. And is very healthy looking . Thanks guys x ive been told he can go a while without eating but, i keep thinking im doing something wrong. Doesnt matter how many books i have read before buying him, nothing prepared me for a fussy eater!

Is the bark on the warm side somewhere he can hide in? If not I suggest getting a warm hide too. Do you have a thermostat on the heatmat?

6 weeks isnt too long without a feed. Snakes can go a long time without feeding. I have had snakes go longer. As long as he is healthy looking then you have nothing to worry about. He will feed when hes ready to.
