when i got my vivarium and all my other bits i bought it all off a friend the vivarium is quite big i have both snakes inside in rubs i got a stat as well as lots of other bits, i set it all up before getting the snake and the stat didnt seem to work wasnt sure if it was me or not but the mat on its own works fine but connected to the stat goes cold even when i turn the stat up nothing happens so decided its not working, i then buy a new new from ebay a microstat 100 again i cant seem to get it to work am i doing something wrong or is it bad luck at the moment im carefully monitoring the temps and luckily there staying within 28-30 in the warm end and 24-26 in the cooler end |

How have you got the stat set up and then we can tell you if you are going wrong somewhere. Where are you measuring your temps from and what are you using to measure them?
I would turn off the mat until you can get the stat issues sorted out as you cannot monitor the temps 24/7 and temperature spikes can happen at any time |

30 degrees is colder than our body temp so the mat shouldn't feel warm to the touch. As long as your temps are ok (with the stat and digital thermometer probes directly on top of the heat mat) it will be working fine. |

There are 2 lights, one on constant to show it has power and one to show when its powwering the mat. If there are no lights at all then its broken or needs plugged in. |

i have the microstat 100 and when it is working right there is a red light that comes onand when it goes a bit over the desired temp that you want it turns it self off so the light goes off and when it drops below a certain temp it turns back on again and constantly does this over and over i had to play with min for about half an hour to get it to work cos i was having the same problem as you but got it in the end. hope this answered your question and hope you can sort it out.

Have you it all plugged in correctly?
Is your house warm?
Are you touching the probe?
Has the mat been on unstatted under the tank before? (the glass will be hot) |
