Hello everyone! This is a project I have been working on for a while, a Vivarium Coffee Table. It is now finished, and as such I am proud to be able to offer it to anyone who likes it!

The total dimensions are 1m (L) x 50cm (W) x 50cm (H) of the top glass sheet, which itself is 8mm thick toughened and treated glass, so can withstand a fair few knocks and jolts, as you would expect from a coffee table. As the glass is fairly heavy, there is no real need for safety catches/locks, just lift the glass up from one side.

The unit is lit by an MR11 Halogen spot bulb (35W supplied, can use 15-50W bulbs) and an Exo-Terra "Repti-Glo 10.0", 15" (38cm) Bulb with the Lighting Ballast supplied (So in full working order), which caters perfectly to Desert animals such a Bearded Dragons, although I suppose it could house corns and other snakes too if the UV bulb was removed.

Both lights are fully replaceable and interchangeable, so can be adapted to suit a variety of animals. All of the edges are sealed with aquarium silicone sealant, so the unit is mostly waterproof in the habitat area. There is also a metal mesh screen above the flourescent bulb to prevent small animals or prey items escaping into the lighting unit.

I will be selling the unit as seen, including the Sand, 5m Power cable and plug, Lights, Plants but unfortunately not the mug or magazines :)

Due to the size and its fragile nature, I will only be able to collect in person, I live in Epsom, Surrey, just south of London. I would be looking for offers in and around £200 in order to recover costs from the unit, but I just had such a good time building this that I don't want to charge too much, although I am happy to talk or negotiate and listen to other deals!

Any questions please ask.

Diesel- Knock down fittings, or corner joints, are available from homebase, B+Q or any other hardware store. You just need to buy some screws the right size and hey presto!

Simmy - Yep there could be, that'd be down to the owner to fit one though, but the reason I have left it out is because unlike the other high-power bulbs which are on the market which are heated from above, and thus a good distance away, this bulb is fairly low powered and only gives out light and infra-red, so doesn't get as hot on the front face as the other bulbs would. Also the UV tube doesn't get anything above warm!

Larka - There is a 1/2mm gap around the top edge inbetween the glass and the woodenbox. There is also a gap above the lights which is screened off by a mesh which allows a little more circulation

Thanks for the nice comments so far

Whoa, I know this is an old thread, but that's amazing! It kind of makes me wish I took woodwork instead of graphics at school, I could of made THAT as my final piece instead of models of zodiac animals... What was I thinking!? Very, very nice! Is it still for sale?

Thanks for the renewed interest! But afraid not, sold it to someone who bought it for beardies I think!

I'm sure I could find it in myself to make another though

Bit procey to make though, I was lucky to have a majority of the components to hand, but the glass alone is £50, and the wood and fixings about £30!
