Earlier on tonight was feeding time for Ammy. I don't normaly put kitchen paper down when I feed but tonights mouse was very bloody so I put paper down incase any aspen got stuck to the mouse. I fed him the left him alone for about half an hour to give him a chance to move off the paper. When he had moved to the other side of the viv I went to remove the kitchen roll and when I started to take the paper away my snake totally flipped out. He started flying from one side of the viv to the other, totally freaking me out in the process. He is now in his warm hide and seems to be ok but is it likely that he will regurge as I scarred him? I feel awful

Does anyone have any tips for if I put kitchen paper down for feeding in the future? I know that you should put something down but his previous owner never did and this has kind of put me off doing it again. Should I just leave the paper in until the mouse is digested before trying to remove it incase it spooks him again?

i use a plastic tray and put the whole thing in and then remove it when feeding zero if hes being moody lol easier to remove than papaer
im sure he'll be fine - but maybe leave it in longer next time - with the royals i leave the paper in over night and it doesn't bother them

Just sounds like a freak event if you ask me, something upset him about you been there that time but who knows if he would react that way again. Give it a bit longer before going in next time nd fingers crossed it will be just a one time event.

I'd just leave him a while and let him settle in his warm hide or something next time you remove the paper or leave half an hour after feeding. I'm sure he will be fine though :)

It's been more than 48h since I fed and then scarred my snakey. No regurge and although a little apprehensive at first, he just came out for a play and all is fine. He didn't get to stay out for long though as I was a little nervous about the bulging bottom area, big poo brewing I think....lol. Thanks everyone. x

Glad he is ok. I tend to leave the paper towels in overnight and then retrieve them when the snakies are sleeping off their sunday dinner.
