Bit worried about Mitch's tail tip, he sheds perfectly everytime apart from his tail! I have tried everything, baths and oil and gently trying to get it off but with no luck, and now the tip of his tail has gone black.
Should I take him to the vets?
I'm worried his tail tip is going to fall off.
Heres some not very good pictures

Thanks!!

It doesn't look good to me, have you tried a damp towel? it worked for mine. I don't have much experience and have only been through one shed with mine so hopefuly you will get better advice for more experienced members

Looks like his tail may come off then..
I have tried all of them tips countless times, but I will try again, but it says on there it doesn't majorly affect them so hopefully it will be alright if the worst happens :(

i looks like the tip might come off, if this were a humans fingers or toes i would be saying that, black = little or no blood supply getting through and the tissue has died, hope he's ok

Hiya,

I'm no expert but from what I've heard there are a few corns who have slightly shorter tails due to this occuring, and I don't think its caused them any lasting harm. Not sure anything can be done once the colours turned.

Vin retained his tail tip last shed and I'm hoping to comes off this time to prevent the same problem!

Keep us posted, hope he's ok x

Thankyou, i'm sure he will be fine, apparently it doesn't harm them and they cant feel it when it does come off (just been reading on the internet)
Shame I cant do anything else to help him but I have tried everything, just makes him extra special in my eyes :)

Thanks, he has had bad sheds when it comes to his tail since I got him, never been able to do that bit properly, I have tried endless times, baths, damp towels and oils to soften it and nothing. Will keep you posted
