Was feeding the little ones today and also cleaning out a few others so been a hectic morning. Was up as usual at 6am and I guess I was not quite with it.

Mid clean I turned and looked over at my little Amels RUB. Lid was off. RUB was empty It seems I had forgotton to put the lid on and she was gone. Blind panic set in, I start pulling out furniture, swearing and cursing at myself for being so stupid.

30 mins later I gave up, still no sign of her. My first lost snake and one of my favourites too

It was then I turned round and saw the feeding tub on my bed, with amel corn safely locked inside eating her fuzzy

Techinically, not my first lost snake but seeing as I had a small heart attack and went through 30 mins of blind panic, I think it still counts.

Feel free to call me an idiot

Please tell me some of you have also done this??

Been there done that. Iv also done the half asleep water changes, started watching something on tv and realised 15 minutes later the viv was still open. Thankfully it was one of the bigger ones and he is too lazy to move much to escape. mini panic tho

I bet the air was blue at your house this morning! Get yourself some chocolate, that'll calm you down.
If it makes you feel any better,I panicked the other night as I noticed Falcors viv was open, rushed up to check he was still in the viv and then realised I was holding him....Doh!!

I shall sit here and say nothing..
Although I have in the past wondered why my viv doors are open only to remember that the snake is getting fed, so I've done similar but not gona as far as the panic due to thinking it escaped.

Haha oh bless you!! When I read you'd lost it I was all like 'oh no, poor thing :(' and then I actually laughed out loud when you said she was on the bed! I would have been exactly the same, I probably would have been in tears like OMGOMGOMG looking everywhere, I swear if I lost one of my snakes I wouldn't be able to go to sleep until I found it!

hahaha I always have a shocked moment when I have them in their feeding tubs and leave the vivs open.

Even though I know they are the other side of the room in secure RUBS, there is something very un-nerving about seeing an open viv.

When I was planning on getting the hoggies, I had their set-up's ready for a week before actually collecting them. Every time I looked over and saw the faun lids open my heart skipped a beat thinking a snake had escaped. A couple of times I even jumped out of my seat before it hit me I hadn't even got the bloomin snakes yet. I think we have trained ourselves so well that the viv doors/rubs should always remain shut that we go into an autoresponse panic if they are open.

Poor you, I haven't done it but know that blind panic feeling you describe, it gets worse as the minutes go by and the relief and how stupid am I feeling sinks in when the issue is sorted.
Glad it was luckily nothing to worry about.
