Aye, major bumflaps- he was bought as a stonking nice breeding male to go with my butter next year- and was part of the reason I forked out more money for Wichita- and the rage is coming.....
I'm fairly certain what has happened is this- he was showing no interest in mating with Wichita, so as an experiment I also put in Sitka to try and encourage some healthy competition. They can't have been together more than 15 minutes, but I'm assuming Sitka did the naughty with him.
He'd been acting VERY restless, cruising his viv and searching for something for hours at a time. He had a chick the last feed, and then shed about 5 minutes later- I thought "hmmm, you didn't shed very long ago....."
Still acting restless, cruising about, but also looking FAT even though I knew for sure he had had 2 massive poos..... So I start to think "erm..."
Still acting restless, looking well gravid and looking for place to lay eggs, so I put in a moss hide 2 nights ago which he has taken to very well. He's still restless but more uncomfy restless than requiring better place to lay restless.
And this morning, found a slug in the viv.
Eggs in the next couple of days methinks.
Oh, and I'm back to thinking Wichita is gravid again, everything looks to have shifted about in the tummy department.
What an epic **** up |

Bloody hell!
So you could have 2 gravid female both mated with by Sitka!
Well good luck with them both. Hope they both lay ok. What babies will you get? |

Nope, it's laying as I type. Didn't come from a shop either, came from a reputable breeder.
Maybe a bit of a misinterpretation on my part- was sold as an "08 male golddust, definitely het stripe"
I assumed the definitely part meant it had been bred and proven, as that is really the only way a het can be definite....
Still, if I buy a male from a good breeder, I expect it to be male LOL!!
Fingers crossed all goes well, its me and the OH's anniversary today and now I'm all worried |

Well, Aurelia as she is now known had laid 1 fertile egg by 2 o'clock yesterday, but as of yet there are no more. She seems very bright and calm, and was out for a wonder around her viv last night, so she'll maybe just be one of these slow layers.
Still, finding it hard to remain upbeat after the death of my last gravid female..... Good thing I'm at work all day today! |

Anymore yet? How are your nerves holding up. (I've everything crossed this one will be a textbook egg laying session). |
