Hi, my situation is this, I recently bought a hydrometer to discover my baby corn snakes rubs where too high humidity, Having readings of 80% plus. so I made more air holes, moved them on to the floor, made sure everything was dry and gave them a smaller water bowl (on the cool side of the rub), thinking I was going to now get readings of 50% - 60%...
But nope, not happening, now its reading 70% plus... I've researched this percentage and apparently some people say its still too high and can cause Illness, but some say its ok. So I got the idea of taking a reading from my room to find out its humidity was 50%, would this being the case effect my overall humidity in my rubs or not?
So I'm in need of advice on everything I've said please, anyone's opinion, advice and experience would be very much appreciated, thank you.  |

have you tried measuring the humidity in the room??
why are you worried about the humidity? if the tub is dry, and there is no condensation on the sides, then you dont need to worry about it. |

and if there IS condensation snakie has prolly either had a dump or tipped over the water bowl........so time for a clean out!

Ah yes, the steamy rub!
Mine don't tip their water bowls so I always know there's a fresh pile of snake poo in there when the rubs steam up lol |

| I hate steamy rubs... if mine slash their water bowl a bit onto the warm end substrate it can go a bit steam, then I end up with fluffy mould ball! |

| Ok have I missed something, do I need to measure humidity for my new corn too? Am waiting to get her. I know you can give them a spray once a day, when they are shedding you can pop in an extra water bowl on their heat mat to help them shed and the moss hide when shedding, what have I missed? |

Mind is changing on snakes I want now lol so am researching these to find out what would be best - Milk Snakes and Dwarf Boa possibly - Crawl Cay, Sonoran, Tarahumara or Vera Cruz and poss a Hoggie, African House and Rat snake. Also Trinket Snakes. |
