I woz advised to leave my corn for about 7 days to settle into his new surroundings but i am getting to point were i really want 2 start handeling him/here ? I got him/her on friday and have fed him/her once which woz on monday evening, would i be ok do u think to try handeling him now ? i will admit and i do feel a bit silly saying so but i am quiet nervous because its my first ever snake, he/she also seems fairly nervous to most of the times i approach the tank he/she kind of backs away and also hiding most of the time too !!
Any advice i would really appreciate.
i know i may seem like a bit of a scaredy cat, but cant help it XX :) |

| The longer you leave it the better for the snake. Remember that handling is purely for your benefit, the snake wants nothing to do with you. |

| ^^ It means that if the corn seems nervous and is hiding away alot then it probably doesn't want to be handled and played with just yet. Be patient, as Matty said, the longer you leave them to settle in the better it will be for them. |

I know it seems like a long time to wait. Just remember that once the week is over you've many years to make up for the non handling. It really is worth it.  |

| Thanks for the advice ppl, im gonna leave it for a while longer now even know its been a week today, plus hes just been fed so gotta leave im in any case ! ive waited a week so a few more days wont hurt i guess, im just really wanting to get it right it being my first snake an all. xx :) |

| Once the 48 hours after the feed is up you can get stuck in, as hatchies they are very quick so it might be worth handling over a box until you get a feel for their turn of speed. One thing I have noticed is they don't like been picked up but once they are up they tend to be fine. Just be confident and ignore any tail rattling, hissing or bluff striking (even if its a proper bite it doesn't hurt) just come in low and steady, scoop him up and job done. |

| thanks bob :) one other thing is when i fed him he took the pinky fine but then swallowed it bottom end first ! is this anything to be worried about ? |

Nah, nothing to worry about, doesn't really matter how he eats it, so long as he does!
A friend of mine has a python that eats his dinner sideways, it ends up with both ends touching xD |
