my snake is 4 and a half foot long and eats 3 large mice a week. he has had a swollen bum for a few months, i havnt taken him out because i dont want him to poo everywhere. am i feeding him to much, or is it a problem with his bum? please help |

3 large mice a week.. wow.. define swollen bum??? as i had a similar thing with my carolina, took him to the vets couldnt find anything wrong , came on here to check out a few things n would appear hes just on too rich aa diet.. i red the "is your snake a fatty section" n it seemed to be that.... how is ur snake in himself? tongue flicking, bright n alert.. ??? does the swelling stop pprecisel;y before his cloaca.. ? |

If its been like it for a few months i would of taken it to the vets by now,has he been pooing ok?could be impaction.Do you feed him in the viv and what substrate do you use. |

Photos would help a lot, but am going with gp, sounds like a fat a**e to me, especially on that much food! You want to be on 1/3rd of that, 1 mouse every 7 days. |

Does sound like you are over feeding him.
You say you don't want to get him out incase he poo's everywhere, so do you mean he hasn't poo'd in a long time? That can't be good if he's on 3 large mice a week and hasn't passed anything in ages.

u sure he isnt a she, food go straight to womens ****s an hips after all :). but feeding that much id expect him to deficate weekly for sure |

Eating anything I would expect something weekly, just with that much food i'd expect a bowl breaker! In all seriousness though, eating huge amounts I would expect atleast 3 separate bowl breakers, food gets digested from the rear of the snake first, so the first mouse eaten gets done first, and then the second and so on, so a slight delay between each food item to be passed is normal. |
