Could you use newspaper with young corns that are likely to get between the sheets for a nosey?
Could you use newspaper that has been shredded, not cross cut shredder so would be long bits, in the cool end?
Is the ink harmful at all?
At the moment Patrick has sheets of newspaper as substrate for health reasons the other 3 are on beech chip. I'm finding it so easy with newspaper, easy to see where they have pooped and tiddled just roll up the dirty and put clean down its really difficult to find it with beech chips sometimes. Heat from the mat gets through lovely and no worry about substrate being ingested when they feed. And because there is foliage and other bits and bobs and the residence of them it don't look as bad as I thought it would. Thankyou. |

Alternatively just use kitchen roll- all the benefits of newspaper (cheap, easy to clean etc) but it's a little bit more absorbent. |
