Need a bit of information realy.
My snake escaped and had been missing for about four months.
Me and my partner were watching tv in the dark and i saw something out the corner of my eye, who should it be but my albino corn snake, Al.
We put him in our spare tank we had as soon as it had warmed up,we fed im a mouse and he hasgone through 2 bowls of water already hehe.
I was just wonderng if it would be safe to give him another one today, we found himyesterday, as he has lost a lot of weight and he needs his strength back.
Thank you guys i would appreciate any coments on this post as am really worried about him. |

he snatched the large mouse off me yesterday before it toched the bottom of the tank lol and took him less than a minute to eat it blees him. :) so you thin i should go smaller for a bit then go back on large ones?

Congrats on finding him. It just goes to show you should never give up.I agree with the advice given. As much as every instinct in us tells us to feed him up and give him what he wants, he does need to have some time to adjust again. Keep things as calm as possible for a few days, don't handle him just change his water and check for poos. Keep a record of what he eats and when he poos so it's easier to see if something is amiss. When he has had a week to settle back in, weigh him and do it every couple of weeks so you can see if he is putting weight on steadily or not.
Sorry, realised that sounds a bit preachy. This is just my advice and what I would do, not 'you must do it or the world as we know it will end!!!' lol |

I agree with both a33272 and kdlang, sounds like spot on advise to me. Whatever you do don't be tempted to overload his belly, you really don't want a regurge! Slow but sure is the way to go.... |

Great to hear that you got your snake back.
I wouldn't keep the male and female in the same tank. The male will constantly pester the female to mate, stressing her out which could put her off her food.
Is the girl you want to put him in with the 2yr old? If so she is too young to be bred safely, so you could end up losing your her. |

I would advise against putting them together especially at the moment. Along with the usual arguements against it, your male has been missing for several months. You have no idea where he has been and what he has been exposed to. He could have picked up any number of bugs or health issues which could be passed on to your female. Plus you won't be able to tell if he is eating and pooing properly with another snake in the viv to confuse things. |

Where abouts are you Willow? Someone on here might be able to suggest one. I did a search online and found one about half an hour away. Then phoned my local vet to see if they dealt with reps. They didn't but recommended the same one that I had found. He was brilliant.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but you may not need to worry about taking him to a vet yet? Just keep an eye on his weight, eating pooping etc and treat him as you would a new snake. Quaranteen and good hygiene after handling to avoid any possible germs passing to your female. |

I'm in Derbyshire and the vets I use is in Heanor, Derbyshire. Just google search reptile vets in Notts. I just did a quick one and found this place http://www.buckleyhousevets.co.uk/our-services/exotics/ but if you do a search and spend a bit of time looking through the results you may find a good one near to you. I would advise ringing up the vets and checking if they are just willing to treat reptiles or if they have an actual reptile specialist. It doesn't sound like you need a vet right now but it's always a good idea to keep a shortlist just in case you need one in an emergency. |
