By all means go and do a poll on RFUK (I'm a mod over there) and see the results. They will be exactly the same- plenty of people who do it with no problems, plenty of people who've done it and had problems, and plenty of people who don't and won't do it.

There is a user on RFUK that cohabits corns and ratsnakes in groups even though she has had experiences of her snakes eating cagemates. She is a very experienced and respected keeper- yet a snake still died another was left very ill despite all her knowledge and care!

At the end of the day, as mentioned numerous times in this thread, regardless of the number of people who do it and have not yet come across problems, the risks are plain to see and very much a possibility. Would I place myself in a situation where I am likely to become very stressed or be in danger? Maybe. Would I do that to an animal that I care for, knowing the risks? No.

Sorry but I disagree, this topic is not making tcs a bad place?? Co-hab threads always spark this amount of controversy, always have and always will but that doesn't mean the forum has now gone down hill as a result!

What I do agree with is that the whole thread was a bad idea. There is already a co-hab thread where people are for and against the idea so there was no need for this one or a poll.

As for the ' people gang up and get all clique-ey ' comment that's rubbish, just because some of us agree on this thread it doesn't mean we always agree. I happen to think a33 is a **** hahaha ;)

thats what im saying sexybear, they would be EXACTLY the same and thats what i dont like about it...they should be friendlier on here, or so i thought. I'd expect to get crucified on RFUK for having a slightly wrong humidity, let alone cohabiting!

^ Dude, every forum has moments is like this, it's just how forums and the internet are. I haven't see any direct ill comments, just people taking comments that way.

You could do a poll asking how many people have used a heatmat without a stat, or a bulb without a gurad as we know quite a few newbies have done this. Most would have been lucky and had no problems, some would have been umlucky and their snakes may have been injured. But seeing those poll results would you still risk usuing an unstatted mat or a bulb without a gurad? I doubt it, and imo co-habbiting is no different. There are risks. End of story. You either gamble with your snakes health and well being or you keep them seperate.

oop just saw louise's post...thats exactly what i mean, you dont just label someone's honest, well presented opinion "rubbish" and disregard it. thats not fair

Thanks ozziesmum for agreeing with me...and staple im all for healthy debate but thats not just how things are...im a mod on a bikers forum and this never happens, even with all the egos and speeding debates and harley vs sportsbike BS.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed and made me a far better keeper than i could have been without you and good luck to all you guys and girls and your wonderful snakes! much love to you all and to TCS. Without meaning to sound defensive, RFUK is NOT an unfriendly forum. There are way more members over there and so there are loads more opinions flying about. This makes it seem a nasty place, when in reality discussions on subjects such as this are just much bigger.

The way it gets spoken about on here makes it out to be like Nazi flippin Germany...

Forums have arguments on them- full stop. Stick a thousand people in a room together for a free-for-all debate, and I can gaurentee that things would not stay civil for long.
