My corn snake was sold as a female Amel Stripe, het for butter and snow. She hatched on 20/07/09 - which makes her a year and a half old. She looks like a pure corn and the only reason why I'm slightly curious is because of her size.

At a year old she weighed 140g and was 2ft 3in long, following the weight chart and by her size she was eating medium mice.

Now she's onto large mice and 2 large mice every 2 weeks (aka, 1 large mouse, wait 2 weeks, 2 large mice, wait 2 weeks, 1 large mouse, wait 2 weeks etc.) She has no problems eating them but 1 mouse seems to be too little for her and 2 mice a little too much - I guess she's between sizes!

Now at 1 and a half years old she is 3ft 5in long, compared to other corns of a similar age on here she is way, way longer, I've seen other snakes who are about 3 ft at 2 1/2 or 3 years old.

I've started to wonder if she could be a hybrid because she has grown so fast. I've never powerfed her, I followed the weight/food size chart that I got off a few posts here, if anything I waited a bit too long between moving to bigger food sizes for fear of scaring or hurting her as when she stayed over at my local pet store for the holidays they pointed out she needed to move up food sizes.

She is a healthy arch shape, a round top with a flat belly, no sign of hips, no white gaps between the scales, no bent scales, no difficulty in moving or bending. In fact she is quite an active, curious and quick snake still.

I just don't know why she's got so long, so fast! Does anyone else have a corn who has grown so quickly? How can I tell if she has any hybrid in her, I heard about counting belly/head scales, but can't seem to find any information on how to do this online.

I've put up some recent pics, including a pic with me to give some sense of scale :) I hope someone can help :)

Shes not a hybrid, shes just a fast grower, either that or shes older than the breeder says, which isnt an impossibility.

I thought that, but looking at photos of her when I got her, she was a teeny tiny shoelace - maybe she's just greedy and too stretchy lol.

I have a corn, similar in color (see pic below) and it also seems grow much faster than the other amel I have with different coloring.
Looking through photos on Flickr, I do find mine has a morph similar to a Creamsicle which is a hybrid.

=========================
0.1.0 Amel (for sale/trade)
1.0.0 Creamsicle
0.0.1 Q-tip Motley (for sale/trade)

Dreaming for: snow/blizzard.
