LOL yeah they are best avoided. I do remember it, the emergency doctor came out and gave me injections (of what I'm not sure) and my leg was bright red and swollen then a few days later it was all split and yukky. It was a nasty reaction but they can kill you so I consider myself lucky and privileged, not many can say they've ben got by a venomous snake.
You can judge by the snakey mood as to whether to try picking her up again, if she gets into a strike pose and shakes her tail its likely she'll have another pop at you but its just as well that she learns biting won't stop you doing what you are doing so just give her a try. At this stage I'd try to hold her twice a day for about 5 minutes until she calms a little. It won't take too long for her to associate you and your smell with a safe place (or at the very least will realise your not about to eat her). |

Wow that doed sound nasty!! your sooo lucky your ok thank god!!!
Where were you when you got bitten??walking in the country side or??
and i picked her p again, i think it was because i was faffing around last time, im glad you said that, it will unscare me, saying when she does striek she realise im still going to hold her and not hurt her!!
i held her 3 times today... 1st time nearly an hour but i let her discover my bed and teddy bear... i just love her and want to hold her as much as possible, its what gets me through my long working day haha!!! |

Haha, I was in the countryside, I'd climbed a tree, jumped out of it from a low branch and as I hit the ground quicker than you can blink I felt a small whack on my shin. Was over before it started, was so fast, I never even saw the snake just left with the puncture wounds and then my leg stopped working, PMSL.
Yeah if you run away everytime she bites she will realise it works and keep you at bay, just ignore the biting and carry on as normal and she'll soon pack it in. Either that or buy a tiny Hannibal mask for her.
You wait until your phone is full of pictures and videos and you go through them at every given moment. Then once 1 snake wins your heart you'll be in a reptile shop and another little snake will look at you and it ends up coming home with you too, and another and another, its an addiction. I ended up with a Python after going to ask about King snakes, fell in love with the little guy and put a deposit on him while I sorted his vivarium out. IT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU!!! BE WARNED! |

When Matilda bit me I calmly put her back and got her out the next day again and the day after that etc and she gradually became more confident with me. I take it you left it the 7days to settle in. Now you have been bitten the fear of it is almost gone right? LOL was best thing Matilda could ever do for me was to bite me as as soon as she did I lost my fear and I think my newfound confidence was just what the snakes wanted and I have never been bitten since! |

Ironically my adder bite wasn't the worst I have had! Yes my hand swelled and it wasn't pleasant, but its nothing to a reasonable size boa!! Admittedly it was a baby adder, but even so! Even as adults corns rarely give anything to worry about.
Actually, second thoughts, I had a royal try and eat my finger about 18 years ago, that tingled a bit. |

Getting over the fear is something everyone who respects their animals has to do, its normal and totally natural. Don't try and rush it, it will come with time and patience. |

So she has a bit of spirit!!! Now you know what it's like to be tagged you won't worry anymore. Just carry on as normal and she'll soon realise that you're not a threat and biting you gets her nowhere. |

Aw thanks, whats the best way to get her out... shes not in a vivarium yet shes in like a plastic tank with 2 plactic lift up lids... are they called rubs ?? or am i guessing wrong, is it better to takwe the entire lid off or just open one of the see trhough ones, becasue ive been opening one of the little lids and i struggle to get my arm in and get a good grip??
Im sooo glad youve made me all feel better i felt so stupid like im the only one that was really scared lol |

They are called faunariums, or fauns. Take the whole lid off, you won't be able to see properly if you don't. There's no right way of doing it, bit the wrong way is to lunge and grab. Move purposefully, not slow but not fast, don't pause or stutter. Be forceful but not aggressive, its easier said than done, but don't be scared, if you get bitten then so be it, don't be put off. You just need to remember what is happening, I am Damn sure I would fight back if a huge hand came and tried to pick me up!! |

It's a thing that kings and milksnake do a lot, they are all very food orientated, they try and eat first and ask later, not so much with corns. |

As strange as it may sound, im quite looking forward to getting 'tagged' just so i know what it's like as read alot of people saying the thought of being bitten is worse than the actual bite.

Its deff worse thinking about it than what it actually is it is just a shock !!!! and makes you jump !!! im actaully scared of her doing it again, not because of pain, becasue i hardly felt it, more because it made me jump and i moved her faun a little and scared her, i just want her to trust me, i didnt get her out yesterday because she was hiding, i came in today and my dad had said she had been out, i went in slowly and she was half out of her hide i got closer slower and she hid again !!!1 argh !!!!..... im trying soo hard!! |
