hi there, iv had corn snakes a while (when i was a teenager and more recently started caring for them again) but have never bred them and would like to give it a go in the next 2-3 years. i was wondering if anyone could tell me what equipment is required to breed and care for them right through the process? iv got a general idea and have done some research but want to get this perfect.

at the most basic, you'll need:

  • an empty tub for the mating
  • plain paper substrate for your female after mating
  • damp laying box
  • vermiculite and sphagnum moss for the lay boxes and egg boxes
  • incubator
    • polystyrene box
    • heat mat taped to the lid
    • pulse thermostat
    • plastic tub for each clutch
    • digital thermometer
    • digital hygrometer
  • small tubs for the babies (I use cricket tubs)
  • small water bowls (glass tealight holders from Ikea )
  • small hides (empty toilet roll tubes cut in half lengthways)
  • kitchen roll for substrate


....and LOTS of patience!
