I am new to keeping corn snakes, I have only had her for 10 days, she is approx 20-25 cm length. But she regurge her 1st feed,(that I have given her) She had been left to get used to her new home for 9 days, I fed her last night, and this morning in her water bowl, was the pinky.
she has 3 hides, in different positions, Temps in her viv 83-86 warm end, down to room temp 71-72 ish.
I have read through the sticky about reguration, but I cannot see what I have done wrong, obviously something, as this would not have happened. Please help I would like to correct this asap

Hi Wendy.
It would be very hard for me to work out the reason, however, you need to NOT feed her for at least 2 weeks while she builds up the acids in order to digest her next meal. When you do come to feed her, make sure that the meal is no larger than the largest part of her body. Maybe then you can carry on as normal, but please do not try to feed her for at least 2 weeks.
Im sure that you did not handle her after her feed. Also, was the meal completely defrosted? and free from any aspen?

yes was free from aspen, as she was fed in small tub (had kitchen roll on the bottom), which i opened after she ate and allowed her to make her own way into viv and then she went into her hide, and I was 99% sure the pinky was defrosted,it was warm and floppy. but yes I will take your good advice, and leave her 14 days, until I try again,

| is there a chance the pinky was to big? - my local rep shops pinkys are almost fuzzy size at the mo! I seem to get different size and quality every time!!! |

One other thing, When did she last poop? |

yes she did eat it,(it would not have gotten in her main viv) because she ate in the small takeaway container, and the pinky was in the water dish, in the viv (though the pinky did look same as when it was when defrosted)
also in answer to sully steve, the pinky was approx 1 and half cm, I did ask for small to med sized pinkies, yes maybe she needs smaller.
Thanks again for great advice and help.
I really feel bad, as I thought I researched enough to provide this beautiful creature good care. |

One other thing, When did she last poop?
she has not pooped at all, since i had her, |

Don't feel bad! There are experts on here that learn something new everyday! The trouble is, there is many conflicting things on the net. You will find all the answers on this forum.
As long as you don't feed her for 2 weeks and make sure the meal is small and then maybe give it another 2 weeks before feeding again.
Keep you eyes peeled for poops too. Just so you know there isn't a blockage!

Well maby your viv is too big, when i had my 40cm snake in a 35x20x20 plastic box then she didn't even eat. Now she is in a very small RUB about 20x10x6 and she is so happy and she started feeding very well and so on.
Conclusion: A too big "place to live" results in regurgitation or no feeding whatsoever. |

thanks Masimadu, that could be the problem, I have now moved her into a smaller home, (husbands pack lunch box) made few holes in it. She is just curled up on the bottom, not even hiding, I hope this is a good sign, and that she now does not feel vulnerable. |

hi there wendy, i hope you have luck when you next feed your snake, my little baby refused food to start with and ate 11 days after now he eats fine, it is a worry though esp when they are small
be careful not to do your husbands lunch in that box he may get a suprise! lol |

Thankyou Sarah, yes hubby can have his lunch in a plastic bag, hehe, his lunch box is now snakes new home. Going to leave her alone completely for 2 weeks, except for water change, then will try a small feed, great advice from every one here, I really am grateful that you all spent the time to answer my question,

just would like to up date, I did all that was advised, and its now over 48 hrs since I last fed her, and no regurge. so I am so happy.
just two more quick questions, should I continue to feed smaller than usual pinkies for how long and what is the best intervals?

| Great news, I'm 24 hours into a first feed after a regurge so I know what you are going through. You can slowly increase the size of the mouse upto but no bigger than 1.5 times the size of your snake at its thickest point. I feed weekly but others feed every 5 days and some every 10 days so its personal preference and really upto the snake. |

nice, sounds like mine, hide away for over 3 days, but then she came out looking for more food, guess she did not think the baked bean size pinky was enough hehe, that's the reason why I asked how soon to fed her again.
