Izzy finally shed today! She's been in blue since last Wednesday and went back to looking fine on Monday night. She's been in her hide pretty much the whole time but I finally caught her venturing out today, although she went and moved to a different hide shortly after!

She missed her last feed (was meant to be Sunday) so I figured she was hungry and defrosted her a small fuzzy. I think it was safe to say that she was hungry cos she constricted it so hard that it literally ripped in half! It confused her at first and she tried to eat it from the belly, trying to eat herself in the process!!.

10 minutes after eating she started rubbing her head against everything and then shed right in front of me! Now I've got a nice new looking, active snake again! The only down side is that I can't handle her for another 48 hours!

That is amazing drchino ! So many forum members have never seen their snake shed and you have watched Izzy do her 1st shed (well done for spotting the signs of her rubbing her head to loosen the skin!).

And for her to feed so well just prior to shedding, constricting her fuzzy til it almost split open ....I am not surprised she got rather confused at that point !

Was her shed a clean shed? Could you see the eyecaps and tail tip when you removed the old skin? (sorry, old Kellog habits kicking in of checking up on everything )

Cant wait to see pics of her looking all shiny in her new skin (once those frustrating 48hrs are up of course ) cos she really is a stunning looking snake....I love her colouring and markings.

It was hard not to miss the signs, she was practically throwing herself into things! I had a feeling giving her a mouse would speed things up a bit!

Ah yeah the first thing I checked was the eye caps and tail It's all one nice complete shed.

Hurry up 48 hours so I can get some more pics of her! I haven't handled her for over a week now so I've missed her quite a bit!

I could never get bored of watching them eat or shed! I pretty much spent my whole night watching the taming the rats, cleaning out the fish tank and then had the grand finale with snake feeding and shedding for me! A fun evening of animals... no need for TV

I'm glad I caught her doing it cos I've been checking on her all the time to see if I could catch her at it! Would have been gutted if I missed it after all that!

Awww such a wonderful thing to see!
Like a baby taking its first steps, only better!
It's lovely when they're about to shed and they rub their heads on your hand!
