Yup, hottest water/antibacterial washing up liquid, or stick them in the dishwasher.

I only use tongs for the royal, but my smallest corn has only one eye and special disabilities - I may have to start using tongs for her, to get her to notice mouse, but at present feed days are different. If the were the same, I suppose I'd just scald tongs before feeding another snake - unless there was a disease or mites (heaven forbid!) in the house. My rep shop had sold out of tongs so I ended up buying Wilkinson's kitchen tongs - fraction of the price and with soft plastic grips that I think are gentler if snakey strikes and misses. Cheap enough to have a few pairs! (They look HUGE but are more impersonal - won't smell of large human hands ...)

BATS how much are the kitchen tongs at Wilkinsons?

Although we have a huge pair of metal tongs that we use to feed Tango with, I though another pair of tongs to feed Phoenix with, would be a good idea.

What exactly do they look like so I can tell my hubbie as he will be the only getting them?

Thanks.

Best wishes

Catherine xx

Good question, I was wondering about this myself.

I just stick mine in the dishwasher, presumed this would be ok. I also put the tub I feed in and the small tub I defrost the mouse in too. I always give everything a wash in boiling hot water afterwards to be sure anyway.

LOL - very mice - ewwww!

Hi, the people who asked about Wilkinsons' kitchen tongs - I'm sure they were incredibly cheap, £2 odd - and if I'm wrong, certainly not much more than that. They are in kitchen dept (lol!) and about 18 inches long with spoon shaped plastic grips - mine are yellow. They really are good - and I think the plastic grips are better than metal. I've put mine in the dishwasher sometimes, and it hasn't harmed them.

All the best.

Aaah! Stop press- if you're gardeners, check out Wilkinsons' garden dept - lots of stuff reduced by 50%. I got two of those plastic zip up cold frame thingys for £5 each today!

I don't regularly clean mine but I do put them back into the feeding container once fed, which also doesn't cleaned unless I see where the mouse has defrosted. When I do clean them I use hot water and washing up liquid. I have some plastic tongues which are good for all mice but don't feel that safe when picking up weaner rats.

A very special super, duper thanks for K :3
