when i first got my snake on sunday i had the thermostat at 29 degrees celcius but the thermometer said 32 and snakie was really active (probably exploring his new home i thought) then i turned the stat down till thermometer said 29 and he went all sluggish and hid away. i left him there until i decided to do an experiment,i turned the temp up to 32 again and sure enough snakie came back out and started exploring
is this normal behaviour - liking the extra few degrees?

He could be searching for a cooler spot as he's too hot at 32 degrees?

yes that's normal behaviour but keep your temps at 28-30*C (to your thermometer rather than the stat) for your snake's well being
