Poor snake!! If you cant look after any pet there are better ways to 'get rid of it' that doesnt involve the poor thing suffering!
I hope they find the snake ...and do not kill it |

I really think you should have to take some sort of pet licence before you can get any sort of animal. The thought of what's going on to poor animals in 100s of homes makes me feel very sad. Poor snakey.

Poor thing. I agree we should throw the bloke in the canal. Get ready for all the hysterical stories about a man-eating snake roaming the housing estates |

preferably with some concrete boots on!
poor thing though they're remarkably adaptable, if it's a boa of a considerable size i wonder if it will cope? must be easier for all the escapee corn hatchies to find a tiny cosy place somewhere warm and keep the spider population down............
AND it's shocking that there's no sensationalist scare-mongering media-biased reporting!

Although the guy is clearly an idiot, this is the vaguest thing to be arrested for:
"The man had been arrested on suspicion of releasing a species of animal into the wild."

The caretaker at work knows I have snakes, and brings me any articles he finds ...there was a woman who was bitten by an adder and the docs told her to stop making up stories. She ended up seeing a local rep dealer and being sent to hospital by him, with a call ahead telling them she was on way in with a serious bite.
Upshot is, she's gone on a rant about how she was petrified of the vicious attacking snake, (all snakes are eeeeevil blahblah) even though she stated she hardly felt the bite, and Adders aren't known for attacking unless they can't get away or are provoked.
*has image of woman screaming and trying to kick said snake or stamp on it, and it biting her*
Some people!
(However according to people in Southampton, grass snakes in the pond on the common are extremely cute!) |

Poor snake! What an idiot though! I don't get why people realised their pets into the wild, can they really not be ****d to go to somewhere like the rspca (aspoopas they are I'm sure if they couldn't help you they would point out someone could), there is also reptile rescue centres or petshops they sell snakes I'm sure would happily take them off people.
I really hope they find him alive, my mum said lost of snakes turn up around sewage plants, most dead :( |

Sad as it is I suspect this sort of thing goes on all the time. Its usually carried out by idiots that buy big snakes like boas and burmeses because they are status symbols. Unlike proper snake owners that have done the research and know what is involved with keeping a snake that can attain huge sizes they quickly realise they cant cope with the animal and unlike someone with a brain who would go to the many places you can to rehome such an animal release it into the wild. In florida they are now overun with burmese pythons that have been released into the wild and have gone on to populate the area and have now become a pest and are attacking and eating neighbourhood pets like cats and dogs. It is so unnessesary and sadly in this case i doubt very much if the snake (if it is a boa) will survive in the wild when it comes to winter. It just goes to show how much this idiot knew about the animal as boas and burmeses are quite accomplished swimmers and i doubt very much that it drowned but the shock of the cold water wouldnt have done it any good.
Idiot. I'd bang him up after dunking him a few times in freezing cold water to see how he likes it. |

Nah, I'd deport him to Florida and dump him in a nice juicy swamp full of alligators and highly dangerous blood-crazed burms ... |

Sadly it won't survive, infact its most likely already dead, boas are tropical animals, they need the heat 24/7, even temps as low as 25 can kill quite quickly. The charge he was arrested on is a valid charge, its to stop people releasing foreign species into the wild and causing chaos in the wild, a population of boas would decimate rats and mice, whilst it doesn't sound bad, there is a balance, this would upset it. |

Disgusting :( the poor snake! if he couldnt look after it anymore all he had to do was ring the rspca or spend a small amount of time offering if to a good home for free rather than putting it thru that suffering! the poor snake :( |
