Not something I could do either. I think if the need ever arose I would have to take it to a vet or to someone with more guts than me.

its not an easy thing to do, and after the first time it upset me quite a lot, but it is one of those nasties that are sometimes neccessary :(

If a vet charges you 400 quid for a pts, then he saw you coming a mile off, although not snakes, the last 4 pts we have had haven't cost us a penny, and we got another today.

Well, ignacious the one eyed rat went this morning, quickly and peacefully.
Incidentally, when perky was done a few weeks ago, he took 5 doses before giving up, he did not want to die! shame, he would have suffered so much had he not been done.

Its the joy of owning rats, especially as most are about 2 years old now, we have lost 5 or 6 recently, with plenty more to go soon!! Iggy was awesome though, one of our first babies, and only having the one eye guaranteed him to be a keeper, but that was great, he was very friendly, just a shame we haven't had the time to give them that we used to, hence why they are not getting replaced.
