My 4 month corn had a bulge in it's vent today when I picked it up. I quickly put it down incase it pooed on me and it fired out a dark yellow/light brown liquid, maybe poo of a solid colour. After this I picked it up and I saw it was still pinkish around it's vent like it's not closed properly and it was leaking a clear liquid with a faint tint of yellow. I have no idea if this is still urates or musking as he hates me picking him up. The more I handle him, and the closer to the vent, the more he leaks... Its smells but I have no idea if this is because its poo/wee or an infection or musking.

You think this might be an infection? Musking? I'm leaving him for some quite time today, I cant take pictures as it wouldn't turn out well. Do you this this is wise? If tomorrow there is still pink and or looks like it's vent isn't properly closed and still leaking I'm going to ring a vet...

I really hope he's going to be ok... I don't think I could cope with 3 pets dear to me dying in such a short space of time...

It's feeding day tomorrow, you think I should feed him?

I really don't see how he could have damaged his vent though...

Anyone been to Pilgrim Vets, Boston or any rep vets in Lincolnshire?

Better go to the vets and get him checked out. And no, dont feed him, its always worth missing out a meal if there is the slightest chance you may need to take it to the vet.

Sounds weird, maybe he is just chambering another round incase you pick him up again!
They don't usually musk, but it could be, sounds like a mix of urates and poo, maybe a touch of the sh*ts (I can't seem to spell the proper word!) Either way, it won't hurt him to feed, and just keep an eye on him. Maybe just a case of him being especially anti social!

He has musked before when he was 1 months old and again when 2. He is always rattling his tail when I put my hand in his tub and is generally ok once I have picked him up, doesn't generally rattle once out unless there is a sudden movement or loud sound. My friends were at mine today and had heavily petted my cat so maybe it could be do with the increased smell of cat since my friends managed to cover my bed with his hair.

Mike, my friends suggested the run while I was there panicking, can they really get the runs? I really hope so... it just seemed like there was quite a lot coming out for quite the period of time when I picked him up... He does seem to be acting like his normal self.

I'm so worried about him... although I know I shouldn't really pick him up to check until tomorrow, I'll check then and then do a good check or his RUB for poo and if not, I'll put him on kitchen towel until I get him to a vet...

I think if there is no poo or it still looks funny I wont feed him and ring every vet nearby that can get me in although I really don't know how they would treat such a little one... If he's fine I'll give him his usual nummys.

It's always making worry that maybe its some sort of birth defect that is surfacing itself now...

I really hope these vets I cost do not cost as much as the one in Loughborough as I don't have £100+ spare... not until August.

Got a pets at home near you?
I was VERY impressed with the reptile specialist they had inside their vet. Kelloggs had better treatment for his vent in the 2-3 weeks he was with that vet than he did in the 8 weeks prior with a 'proper' reptile vet.

Yeh I went in there today. Unless. I know they have no vets in there but I asked about a reptile one and they said "Loughborough or hull, we get vets from there to check our reptiles" I looked on the website, they have no vets what so ever there so I am assuming they get vets not associated with them and I know for a fact Loughborough charges a lot... didn't even know there was a reptile vet in hull.

I e-mailed the company that do the whole vets thing in pets at home funnily enough, last week incase anything did happen. They told me only some of the vets deal with reptiles and they told me to e-mail my location and they would tell me the nearest one, never got back to me.

I'm going to badger them again though I think. Although it says the nearest pets at home vet from me on the site is an hour and a half away and they might not even deal with reptiles.

It's not the yellow stuff that worries me... it's the clear liquid and the fact it seemed to be like just dripping from the vent. I suppose wiping it with tissue in a panic didn't help...

Looked at his botty today, it's fine! It must have been urates or musking thanks guys though. Can't believe how worried I got over the little guy.

Probably, he's never been that bad and he normally gets into a striking pose, rattles and bites if he's in a bad mood. He was a sweety today though, no rattling at all or musking when I got him out today. He didn't even rattle when I had finished feeding him and he normally goes like mad then lol.

GLearnt something new at least though lol

Well maybe just was having a bad day, maybe he was asleep or just was in a general bad mood!! Just keep an eye on him, if he's packing then point his tail away from you!
