I was reading the posts (Babies together) and agree with what was said but, my 2 boys live together, i got them when thay were a year and a half and i dont kno much about there past but thay not from the same clush of eggs so were put together at some point, How would this of been done ? thay love being together and dont like being apart so i find it stange, considaring what people say about the subject, ive had them for 6 months now and never had a prob, i only sepperate the when feeding.

You say that they love being together but how do you know that?
Also are they both deffinitely boys? Have you had them popped/probed or are you just assuming they are boys?
Cohabbiting Adult corns is a very discussed topic and there pro and cons to this but i think one thing that the majority agree is that hatchlings/juveniles should not be kept together as there are far more dangers than doing so with adults. |

Yearlings+ are generally ok together but there is still a risk of them munchinging each other but the bigger risk is stress and miss-sexed/unknown sexed snakes being together, the male raping the female and the female becoming egg bound.
Can I ask how you know this? Not trying to sound mean but snake's see each other in the same viv as furniture, that's all and they can get stressed if their "furniture" moves and sits ontop of them. They don't have feelings as such so they can't "love" each other. I housed mine together, the big one was never affected by another snake in the viv or being separated but the smaller one hated being in the same viv. You my not know that there is a problem as you can't ask them, you can only observe their behaviour to see if something is wrong.
Garter snakes are the only snake's I know of that behaviour changes for the better when in groups. Someone's corns on here I can't remember who's it was now but they are a lot calmer when housed together. |

Well when one moves to the other side of the viv the other follows strate away.
The woman i got them from rescuse snakes and rehomes them and been doing so for 22y, she probed them. Ive never had any probs so i just left them together, if thay did ever show any type of agreson i would seperate them. |

As the other side of the viv has now become the best place to be in? Or because they are examining the moving thing to see if it's prey?
If you do plan on keeping them together, just make sure you have a viv big enough for 2 when they are older instead of one viv that's big enough for one as you need to be able to fit 1 hide in hot and 1 hide in the cold for each snake in the viv although they probably will all be curled up in one as that will be the best place in the viv but it gives them the option so they can get away from each other. I would also have a spare viv/RUB and heating incase something does happen. Unless you know the signs of a stressed snake I wouldn't do it.
Just to warn you, on another forum I read that 2 snakes were together in the same viv for 8 years, never a problem. Then for no reason one day the smaller one tried to eat the bigger one, so even adults may eat each other although it's rare in hatchlings it's very rare in adults but as long as you understand that's there's a chance and they aren't buddies.
The wouldn't show aggression to each other I don't think, it would just be stress or one or them trying to eat the other. Its not like they would snap or bite because the other one is getting annoying, they would put up with it or make it into a snack. Must say never really heard of males together, only females. I don't see why it would be any different to be honest expect maybe in breeding season. |

A common misconception is that this is their way of being friendly, its not, they are competing for the best spot in the viv, one will often sit on top of the other and this can become very stressfull.

I think they were 2 of Kehhlyrs Adults. I think they were housed together when he got them, and then when he tried to split them they got very stressed.
I think the actual comment is in the cohabbiting sticky but im not completely sure, and thats a long long thread lol. |

There are always exceptions to any 'rule', there is no written rule that corns shouldn't be kept together, but, there no real written rules on how to keep any snakes, just advice from people who have been there and done it. I have been keeping snakes on and off for 22 years too, never in that time have 2 young snakes been together, and they shall never in the future.
The bottom line is whether you are prepared to take the risk that it might happen to you, that's what it boils down to.
Snakes only have three feelings, hungry tired and horny, its pretty much that simple.
A tired snake will sleep, if there is nowhere 'safe', it will sleep in the next best spot. If its hungry, it will eat, should there be another snake present that is maybe weaker or slightly smaller, then it becomes the meal, as for being horny, well, a horny male will try and sh*g anything that moves!! |
